Why Nicotine Pouches Will Help You Quit Smoking Better Than Anything You’ll Find in a Pharmacy

Join us in creating a smoke-free future

Nicotine pouches are the best modern smoking cessation product, but they’re far from the first. The most well known modern product is vaping (and we explain why nicotine pouches are a better alternative in another article). This article will cover why nicotine pouches are a better alternative to quit smoking than any product you’ll find in a pharmacy. Despite not being sold in pharmacies, nicotine pouches are still considered a pharmaceutical product by the World Health Organisation as they are “essential for the prevention and treatment of diseases, and protection of public health”. Of the 7,000+ chemicals found in cigarettes, over 250 are known to be harmful, and over 60 of these are known carcinogens. Smoking costs the UK Government over £12.6 billion per year, including £2.5 billion to the NHS, and more people died of smoking related illnesses in 2020 than of COVID-19. This is why we hope to see nicotine pouches being sold in pharmacies soon. The simple reason why products such as nicotine gum and nicotine spray have lower success rates in for helping smokers quit, is because they are much less pleasant for the user. Nicotine gum only has a very short release of nicotine, meaning users have to constantly chew more gum in order to satisfy nicotine cravings. Nicotine gum, is only available in mint flavour, and the lack of flavours make it a much less enjoyable experience for smokers. Nicotine spray is on the end of the spectrum in terms of nicotine release, it releases a huge amount of nicotine in a short space of time, and our customers (now ex-smokers thanks to our nicotine pouches) have told us in their feedback that this makes feel nauseous. It has also been described as tasting “vile”, which doesn’t offer much incentive for smokers to make the switch to smoking cessation products.

The NHS provide free support sessions (individual or group) for those who want to quit smoking. Information can be found on this link https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/quit-smoking/nhs-stop-smoking-services-help-you-quit/
